HOUSE IN THE
HILLS

Covered in

Architects and Interiors June 2015

A Himalayan retreat. The site is nestled on the mountainous terrain flanked by tea gardens on 3 sides and a panoramic, undisturbed view of the Himalayas in front. The house is designed with locally available natural materials. The house is Large & meditative, luxurious and yet natural & unpretentious.

The idea was to let the material evoke a sense of home. Let the wood create natural warmth, let the glass create permissible boundaries and let the stone make you feel the freshness by allowing the materials to be in the natural form.

The house is not a form made of 4 walls and a roof. Most spaces are infact an amalgam of man made spaces and natural habitat, thus letting the outside be an integral part of the inside.
